24 May - Monday

We left and went up to Elm Grove cemetery - a big old cemetery which had not been completely photographed. We have some problem with Bob not knowing when to turn because he doesn't hear me, but we did get there and got out the scooter. I went one direction and he went the opposite direction.

I did get stuck in the sand once - the grass was easier on the scooter than the pebbly road sometimes. Between us we got about 380 photos.

On the way home Bob stopped and got sandwiches and said we would eat half for lunch and half for dinner but I ate all mine. I worked on the Veterans Cemetery photos and finally got all 250 of the done. We have increased the percent photographed by one or two percent.

Barb and friends had dinner at Block Island and she said I could have whatever I wanted in the fridge so I had a couple of eggs - scrambled.

We found that the house has two zones and the basement where we are is one zone and the first and second floor are on another zone. Bob has been complaining that the cold is doing a number on his arthritis, so Barb made everyone move upstairs so we could have it warm downstairs and they could have it cold upstairs.

I did a little bit on Elk Grove before I went to bed.

25 May - Tuesday

This morning, I didn't want to leave too early, (but I had to anyway). I suddenly discovered that the exe file for this email had disappeared from the taskbar and all the files had disappeared too. And all the addresses etc. I managed to find it and put it back but it took awhile. It is an old program and uses a strange indexing system that no other program can read.

Then I tried to get the route I wanted into the phone map from google maps. I couldn't. So I abstracted the turns we made into a text file which I sent to myself in an email. As we got in the car, Barb put the route on "Apple maps". I accidentally closed it, and then couldn't figure out how to get back to it. Finally found it.

The route I had on the phone was, of course, different from the route on the car GPS. So I muted the car GPS and let her do her re-calculating in silence. I was unable to figure out how to mute the Apple map or make it louder.

The route I had on the Apple map got us onto the Merritt Parkway, but not onto the Tappen Zee bridge. Not to worry - I had the exit on my abstract of the turns to make.

I suddenly remembered that I had failed to check my balance on my EZpass. So I called the number (which I had thoughtfully saved on my phone). But I didn't have my account number and apparently I didn't remember my pin. So I was on hold for 15 minutes and then the girl that came on said she would put us on automatic refill. I have kept getting low balance notices, but I also got a notice that my card had been charged. I will have to remember to check on that.

We stopped at a service area in NY off the Garden State for lunch and Bob didn't see the handicapped parking so I had walk all the way around the building to get to a ramp. The handicapped stall toilet was quite low and there were no rails so it was had to get off the pot. :)

Burger King and Dunkin Donuts were the only things open and I couldn't get Bob to try Dunkin Donuts, so I had a fish sandwich

and we both had vanilla shakes as they were out of chocolate.

I had Bob drive around to the end of the handicapped ramp to pick me up

Now, since both the car and both phone maps were more or less on the same page, I enabled the car GPS voice again and made it louder so Bob can hear it better.

Anyway, we got to Robs and were able to use the combination to open the door. Bob went over to the cemetery to take photos - he took about 200.

We had a nice dinner at Robs - fish from the Keyport Fish Market. Rob was able to set up the TV in the guest room. I was sleepy and went to sleep after watching one session of Rock the Block.

26 May - Wednesday

We left Rob's about 8:45. Bob couldn't find the bagels so he gave me one that we had with us. I texted Morgan that we thought we would be there about 11:20 and we were there close to that time. I had the address written down correctly but I remembered it wrong so we passed the house the first time. We parked behind the boat. Carson was home and the kids were eating lunch. They got the adults something from Chik-fil-A. Contactless delivery.

Bob looked at the boat and toured the house and then Morgan suggested that we take photos - I was happy to do that. I wasn't sure if the kids would need to go take their naps, so I didn't want to suggest it myself. And J was a little unhappy about it in the beginning but we got several reasonable ones.

We left there about 1:30 and got gas (48.27 mpg). and found I95. Bob did not think it was a toll road in the past but I remember paying tolls north of Baltimore. Now it apparently is only toll for the express lanes. Bob does not remember going through the Harbor Tunnel before but that cuts a good bit of time and distance over going around Baltimore and links right up with I-97. I was switching between the car GPS (silencing her when she was going the wrong way) and the two GPS's on the phone.

We got home around 3:30 and are unpacked and have read the mail,. But I didn't plant the hostas until Thursday. (These were plants that I ordered last year, and they came while we were gone) .
