Lunch Out and Dinner IN

View Cruising the Chesapeake and Riding to RI in 2021 on greatgrandmaR's travel map.

This morning, Barb and the graduating seniors and the photographer went out and took photos on campus (and in the house) at 6 am.

Then they were making their reservations for the ferry for tomorrow.

When Bob found out that we were planning on going to Block Island on Monday, he objected strenuously because he said there was nothing there and it was too expensive. I had wanted to go, and I found out I could rent a Smart Car for $125.00 but that would have added to the expense. (We were going as foot passengers, not with cars and I didn't know how far the scooter would go.) But Bob is just not going to go along with it. So I said we would stay here, and go to the cemetery we saw yesterday on Monday instead of today. And I would try to process the 250 photos he took at the Veterans Cemetery today. Also I'm having to be close to a toilet for a bit and maybe that would resolve itself.

We found that Carol and Dave and Charlie and Seth and Lisa and Taylor and the baby were going to a place called the Two Twenty Oyster Bar
for lunch while Barb Jim, M and her friend Megan were going to get all M's stuff from the house she rented and put it in a storage unit. So I said we would go with Carol and Dave etc. too. (Although Bob grumped that he didn't know what I would eat at an Oyster Bar).

I thought it was just down toward Point Judith. So we started out in that direction and then I found that I was wrong so we needed to turn around. Bob went right and we found ourselves down at the ferry to Block Island. He HAD asked where that was, but he wasn't that happy about having found out. I was too busy trying to make the GPS take us to the place to take photos

When we got there, everyone else was there except Seth and Dave. Someone pulled out of a handicapped place just in time for us to park there. They were going to arrange tables, but I said I was just as happy to sit on a high stool - once I got up on it, it was much easier for me to get off a
high stool than it was to get up from a low chair.

They had one paper menu. Everyone was supposed to get the menu on their cell and mine won't cooperate and Bob doesn't have a smart phone.

Bob got the children's fish and chips and he was able to eat all of it.

Carol got the adult fish and chips, and it was too much. She hadn't thought of getting the children's portion

I got a Cobb salad as I have had no vegetables or fruit at all except a grapefruit in the morning.

When we got back I was working on photos and then I just fell asleep and took a nap

We were to have a joint dinner with the Rocks at our place, but Mike Rock was running a fever so it was just us. We sent them the cake. We kept the cake for Kim's daughter

I had meat balls and a little lasagna. Then I played Mexican train dominoes with Barb, Lisa and Toody (the photographer) and her mother.

I had a terrible case of reflux about 2 am - I forgot that tomato sauce sometimes does that to me.

If is great they let you order off the children menu so many places I know put age restrictions on it

by Teoni

I haven't seen those age restrictions for some time. But sometimes what we do is order one adult order and split it. Of course sometimes they have restrictions on that too. The cruise ship allowed half orders of the entrees. Which is sensible. Also some places have a "Senior" menu which has less food and a reduced price.

For the last year and a half, we have been ordering out and they can't see whether we have a child of the appropriate age or not. This trip was the first time we've eaten in an actual restaurant since Feb 2020.

I order appetizer and dessert if I think the portions are big :)
The scallops looks good!

Yes or an appetizer and a salad. Or maybe two appetizers, although some appetizers that are meant to be shared are as big as a meal
