Everyone (well 15 people including Rob and Kathy) went sailing today. MB got here with Adrian last night and Rob and Kathy arrived after them, but I went to bed about the time MB arrived.

Their plan was to go to Newport and have lunch and then go sailing. They went on a 50s America's Cup boat. MB has her leg in a brace and is on crutches, so she didn't go, and she left to go home. Taylor and baby Crew weren't going either - it was a racing boat and not a day-outing-with-a-child kind of sail. And while they thought Bob might like to do it, they weren't sure if I could, so we weren't going.

Later we heard about people's experience with the sailing - some people loved the sail - the speed, the heeling of the boat - they put the rail in the water and some people got their feet wet. But Kathy was not a fan

So we decided to go and take photos at the RI Veterans Cemetery which had 35,339 memorials, but only 37% photographed. We drove to it using the FindAGrave directions. She (the FindAGrave ap) gives better directions than the car GPS - she says things like "Turn at the next light" instead of just saying turn.

Anyway as we might have expected, these were all flat markers. Nine acres of them.

WIth no real way for me to get out into the area on the scooter. So Bob went and took about 250 photos. Then I gave him directions to a Dave's Fresh Market and he went and bought a sandwich and we came home and I started to try to process the new photos. (I was not finished the previous cemetery we went to but I decided to start this one first.)

When the guys came back from sailing, we went out to the lighthouse to have the family photos taken. They had scouted out the possible places the day before - realizing that I probably could not get to the beach which was their first choice. They decided that I could probably get to a place on the edge of the park where Bob took photos yesterday. It was roped off so cars couldn't go into the grass area, and that also meant that I couldn't easily take the scooter either. So I went up the hill to the site with the rollator and Bob took the scooter up.

I took my camera and for the photos I am in, I gave the camera to Rob to take photos. He took about 15 and they are good.

Then I got the camera back and I took another 30 or so of the people getting ready, climbing on the rock

We came back to the house and had hot dogs and hamburgers. Charlies' aunt and uncle were there fixing lobster mac and cheese.

Before we left RI, I finished up the Rhode Island Veterans' Cemetery. Most of the veterans in the section we did died in 1996. I only added 9 new memorials, to the 35,339 that were already there, but the percent photographed was increased from 37% to 38%. And I could add links to the new stones for spouses who died later.

Lovely family photos :) What a good idea to plan ahead and find the best location!

Looks like a lot of fresh air by the ocean.

I wasn't sure about the site until I saw the photos. It seemed like a lot of trouble to go to. It was very cool and there was a breeze, but that's not unusual by the ocean.
